Priem, who served as a grip on the series, died in a highway crash early Saturday morning following an overnight shoot on set in Pomona, California, according to Entertainment Tonight and Entertainment Weekly.
USA TODAY has reached out to the California Highway Patrol for information.
Bassett said that when the ABC show's cast and crew got together on set to remember Priem, "so many beautiful words were spoken of him."
"It's the first time (we experience death). We have births, you know, we have weddings and now to experience this," the actress told the outlet at a Disney/ABC upfront event in New York City. "We just had to take a moment, just take time and take a moment. We thought it was important to come together and have whatever bit of service and offer whatever we can do to his family. 'Cause we know that we'll miss him, but we know they will miss him even more."

Fellow cast member Aisha Hinds reflected on Priem's death in an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, saying she was "devastated."
"Words….ever insufficient…none able to carry the harrowing heartbreak reverberating through our 9-1-1 family," she wrote. "As the industry processes the passing of one of our invaluable and invested individuals—notably loyal, thus lauded and loved for his commitment to his craft and sharing the wisdom he’d gleaned from decades of working in this industry, hearts are heavy navigating feelings of grief and gratitude for the life of Rico Priem."
